His Royal Highness Prince Jigyel Ugyen Wangchuck inaugurated a Multi-Sports Complex and an artificial turf football ground at Chamkhar in Bumthang, this morning.

After the inauguration, His Royal Highness went around and visited the facilities after taking part in a casual penalty shoot out at the newly launched football ground. An exhibition match between elderly football enthusiasts was also played. The facilities were built at Nu 93.5 M with financial support from the Government of India. Bumthang Sports Association will now manage and operate the facilities.

According to the Sports Association, the football ground will remain open from 6 am to 6 pm, every day and for every 2 hours, a fee of Nu 2500 will be charged for the users. Likewise, the basketball court’s charge has been fixed at Nu 850 for one and half hour. Individuals will have to pay Nu 150 to use the badminton courts for an hour and 30 minutes. The fees will be used for the maintenance of the facilities and payment of utility bills.
