Trained over 1,500 school leavers and farmers, the Rural Development Training Centre (RDTC) in Zhemgang is becoming an attractive farm business skills training institution. It was established in 2007. The centre provides short-term courses to school leavers and farmers across the country.

The trainings mainly focus on agriculture, livestock, forestry nursery management, group management and association leaders.

Some of the trainees said they are immensely benefitted by the trainings provided by the centre.

“It helps us to keep proper books of accounts and keep track of our daily expenditure and income,” said Pema, a trainee from Samtse.

Most of participants so far were farmers.

The centre also provides farmers with easy access to knowledge and skills that will enhance production of crops and livestock.

“The main objective for inviting them to the centre is to provide the skills and train them in order to keep themselves self-sufficient and independent,” said the Officiating Director, Tshering Dorji, RDTC.

The month-long training also includes book keeping, planning and farm management. Local leaders are also trained by the centre as well.
