Windstorm and hail stones caused heavy damages in Pekarzhing village under Phuentsholing Thromde and Pasakha area. The incident took place on Thursday evening.

In Pekarzhing village, the storm damaged a poultry coop killing 43 birds. More than 600 areca nut trees of about 12 households were uprooted by the storm in the area.

Villagers said the storm has damaged their crops during the harvest season. They are worried as the crop is one of the major sources of income for them.

The storm has also damaged few temporary sheds and partially blown away roofs of some houses in the village.

In Pasakha, though no wind storm was reported, hail stones have destroyed acres of maize fields.

The matter has been reported to the Phuentsholing Thromde after which City officials visited the affected sites for evaluation.

Meanwhile, the tshogpas of the affected villages are compiling the extent of damages caused.
