The three chiwogs of Barpong_Namirgang, Kamati, and Dhali under Bjoka Gewog, Zhemgang are without electricity supply for about a month now.

The onset of monsoon triggered flash flood and landslides damaging electric poles and causing power blackouts since the 9th of July. People of these three chiwogs share that the prolonged power outage in the area has paralyzed day to day functions which require electricity, and almost all mobile phones are now switched off.
For emergency, people walk to a nearby school for a solar battery charger which depends on the sunlight; the sunlight, the place seldom sees in monsoon.

BPC officials in Zhemgang said they are going to start the restoration work from today only and the power supply to these chiwogs would be restored only after a week. The officials said that
about seven electric poles have been collapsed and some are damaged, which have to be replaced entirely.

About eighty households are affected by the power blackout.
