The 3 chiwog Tshogpas of Gase Tshogongm Gewog in Wangdue Phodrang appealed to the High Court yesterday since they were not satisfied with the judgment passed by Wangdue Phodrang District Court on 23rd of last month.

The Tshogpas of Khatoedkha, Khamaedna and Changkha chiwogs submitted a petition to the Wangdue Phodrang District Court stating that they neither have created any serious problem for the government and people nor misused any government funds to deserve the sentence of 3 months in prison.

One of the appeal grounds, according to the defendants, is Wangdue Phodrang District Court directly sentenced them just for failing to share information with the public based on one allegation against the gewog administration.

Earlier, Wangdue Phodrang District Court sentenced them to 3 months in prison for failing to take accountability and transparency in the Gewog Community Contract works and giving false information. They were also charged for failing to deliver the information about the community contract works to some of their people in their respective chiwogs.
