The senior women’s national team suffered a 1-0 defeat at the hands of the Sri Lankan side in a friendly match played at the Changlimithang National Stadium, yesterday.

Despite the dominating performance by the Bhutanese side, the dragon girls failed to find the back of the net. And with both teams giving their best until the last minute of the game, it was the visiting side, Sri Lanka who broke the deadlock in the additional minute. The game ended 1-0 in favour of Sri Lanka.

The International friendly matches organized by FIFA helps countries to gain more exposure and improve their FIFA rankings. As per the FIFA international calendar, a member country has to at least play 4 international friendly matches in a year. The two sides will again play a friendly match on Friday.
