With timely rainfall, farmers in Sarpang have begun their paddy transplantation.  The paddy transplantation season begins from July till August.

Farmers say they are now hoping for a good yield this year.

“We did not face any irrigation water shortage, we are hopeful that our yield will be good too,” said  Gangaram Adhikari, a farmer from Gelegphu Gewog.

“This year we are blessed with timely rainfall and abundant irrigation water,” said Pabi Maya, another farmer.

Farmers, who do not have access to irrigation facilities, say with abundant rainfall, they too cultivated paddy this time.

Since the onset of monsoon this year, Gelegphu received the highest rainfall followed by Phuntshogling, according to the National Climate Outlook Forum (NCOF). It is also predicted Bhutan will receive normal rainfall this year. Monsoon season falls in June, July, August and September.
