A 48-year-old man succumbs to death this morning after his one-storey traditional Bhutanese home was razed to the ground by fire at Zhabjethang in Chhoekhor Gewog, Bumthang.

The deceased was said to be drunk and alone at home when the fire broke out. His daughter was at neighbour’s home when the incident occurred. The wife of the victim and their two sons are yet to return home from Cordyceps collection. The fire is suspected to have occurred from a cooking gas stove.

It took about 2 hours for the Desuups, Dzongkhag officials, Police, Gewog officials and local volunteers to contain the fire. The body of the deceased was handed over to his relatives.
