The National Council member of Chhukha, Sangay Dorji questioned the Education Minister on the implementation of cut off points for class ten immediately from 2019 during the question hour of National Council.

He said during the 19th Education conference, it was resolved that the removal of cut off points will be implemented from 2020 academic session with better preparedness. He also asked whether the education ministry followed the protocol for policy formulation and considered issues of financial sustainability in deciding such important policy matters.

“We discussed extensively with the relevant stakeholders before coming up with the new policy. We decided not to leave out those students who have not qualified for government schools. We also looked at the financial aspects and finally decided to implement the policy from this year itself,” J.B Rai., Education Minister, said.

Meanwhile, the parliamentarians also raised questions on the quality of Education with such policy. The education minister said they are constantly monitoring the progress of students who are on scholarships.

We are coming up with various initiative. Firstly we are keeping a monthly progress report of the students. we are maintaining books for the scholarship students of 21 private schools. we are concerned about those students and we cannot afford to waste the money that we have spent on them,” he added.
