(Forest Fire Update) The forest fire in Punakha continues to rage on for the second day today. The fire gutted two houses in Laptsakha yesterday. The two storied traditional house and a hut was completely razed. The hut belonged to a farm caretaker.

The residents of both the houses could not save any of their belongings. So far the fire has destroyed more than 1,500 acres of forest.

Our reporter Kuenzang Thinley said the fire has now spread towards Nalanda in Talo. Local people, forestry officials, armed forces and the PHPA fire fighting team are battling the forest fire.

The fire started at around 1 pm yesterday from near the Toeb Rongchu Bridge.
