The first ever mini dry port in the country is ready for use in Phuentshogling. In order to decongest the core town area and to dovetail the customs clearances for all import and exports entering through Phuentshogling, the mini dry port was built under the South Asia Subregional Economic Cooperation (SASEC) project.

The mini dry port, built over five acres of land near the second entry gate can house 56 trucks. The dry port has facilities such as cold storage, Weigh Bridge, separate store to house risky goods, warehouse, offices for customs clearance and bank among others.

“Also, the transhipment can take place. There are facilities for both the exporters and importers,” Devi  Charan Dhimal, the Project Coordinator of SASEC said.

The mini dry port would discourage tax pilferages and improve trade facilitation.

The dry port will be handed over to the department of trade under the ministry of economic affairs to be further outsourced for operation.

Close to Nu 135 M was invested in building the mini dry port. A Japanese company MarushinShitaka Construction Company built the dry port.
