A forest fire that has been raging on for five days now at Dramedtse in Monggar has damaged over 2,700 acres of forest.

However, no human causalities and property loss have been reported.

The cause of the fire that started in the evening of Sunday is still not known.

Some hundred people including Desung, Police, Foresters and local people are still battling the blaze.

Forest officials said that strong winds and difficult topography have hindered efforts to control the fire.

This is the seventh fire incidence in Dramedtse this year alone and over 3,000 acres of forest have been destroyed by fires so far.
