Thousands of devotees from across the country are gathered at the football ground in Gelegphu to attend the Wang Lung presided over by Sangay Nyenpa Rinpoche.

The 40-day long Wang Lung began today with the introduction to Kuenzang Lamai Zheylung or the Words of My Perfect Teacher, which will last for a week.

A Baza Guru Dungdrup recitation will be next followed by Nigmai Jubum Lung.

Tents have been set up to accommodate more than 20,000 people. But the number of people who have arrived for the event has exceeded the expected number.

Organisers say the people who couldn’t be accommodated in the tents will have to make do in the open spaces.

The Wang Lung ends on the 9th of next month.
