Bridge benefits 860 households of two Gewogs

A bridge, connecting Yalang and Ramjar Gewogs to the national highway at Doksum was inaugurated this week. It will benefit 490 households in Yalang Gewog and 370 households in Ramjar. The Yalang Gup, Chosung Wangdi, said it would encourage farmers to grow variety of vegetables and fruits. The bridge was built at a cost of Nu. 20 million.

It was inaugurated by the Agriculture and Forests Minister, Lyonpo Pema Gyamtsho.

A Renewable Natural Resource Extension Centre was also opened in Toedtsho Gewog on Monday. The Minister said the centre would enhance the income of the farmers by enabling them to market forestry, livestock and agriculture products.

The centre was constructed at a cost of Nu. 45 million. Meanwhile, a five-kilometre farm road from Tshaling to Gangkhar under Boomdeling Gewog was inaugurated today.

The farm road will benefit about 70 households in Tshaling and Gangkhar. The bridge, the centre and the farm road were all constructed with funds from the Government of India under small development project.
