The National Housing Development Corporation Limited (NHDCL) allotted 506 flats in Phuentshogling to Bhutanese living in Jaigoan.

The allotment was done on Saturday through a lucky draw.

More than 700 applicants registered applicants turned up for the allotment.

Phub Dorji who lives in Jaigoan is among the lucky applicants.“I am happy I got a flat,” he said.

“Living in Jaigoan is not easy. We face a lot of problems.”

The flats are located in ten different locations.

Some of the people, who got the apartments in Toribari, nearly nine kilometers from the town towards Pasakha, were not happy.

Yeshey Dema is one of them. “I don’t have car, so it’s going to be inconvenient,” she said.

“We have a shop in the lower market and my children studies in Sonamgang Middle Secondary School. My daughter and her husband work in a hotel. They come home only at 11pm.”

Four of them even surrendered their apartments.

The apartments are of two categories and the monthly rents range from nearly Nu 4,000 to Nu 7,000.
