His Majesty The King offered prayers at the Shivalaya Mandir in Samtse yesterday.  His Majesty was accompanied by Her Majesty The Gyaltsuen and His Royal Highness The Gyalsey.

A prayer ceremony was held at the Mandir leading up to the National Day celebrations for the successful conclusion of events and for the well-being of the country and the people.

The Shivlaya Mandir was constructed upon the command of His Majesty. It was inaugurated in February, 2016 coinciding with the birth of His Royal Highness The Gyalsey.

The mandir was constructed out of craved sandstone and features marble statues of Lord Shiva and other deities.

It was built around a sacred site where a small mandir previously stood.

On Wednesday, His Majesty granted tokha to the organizers, participants, and volunteers involved in the National Day celebrations. His Majesty thanked them for their contributions in making the day a success.
