The Bhutanese community of Melbourne in Australia celebrated the 111th National Day on December 15. The recently separated twins Nima and Dawa Pelden were the Guests of Honour.

At the celebrations, the Druk Melbourne Association presented a cheque of AUD 6,056 to Children First Foundation to acknowledge the support made towards the twins.

The Foundation facilitates life-changing surgery in Australia for disadvantaged children from developing countries.

An amount of AUD 18,000 dollars has been allocated for twins’ education. Also, AUD 4,500 was presented to the twins’ mother, Bumchu Zangmo as a gesture of support from the Bhutanese community in Australia.

As part of the celebrations, an archery range was also inaugurated.

Meanwhile, over 400 Bhutanese in New York came together to celebrate the 111th National Day. The day was celebrated on December 15 so that all the Bhutanese living there could join celebrations.
