His Majesty The King awarded Druk Thuksey, Heart Son of Bhutan, as an institutional medal to the Election Commission of Bhutan (ECB).

The ECB was recognised for successful conduct of elections in the country since the first parliamentary elections in 2008.

Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Chogyal Dago Rigdzin, Election Commissioner Deki Pema and Election Commissioner Ugyen Tshewang received the medal on behalf of ECB at the 111th National Day celebrations in Samtse yesterday.

“The entire family of ECB is privileged to be receiving the Druk Thuksey award on such a joyous occasion and in the presence of their Majesties and His Holiness the Je Khenpo,” CEC Chogyal Dago Ringdzin said.

“It’s an honor and a very memorable moment,” he added.

His Majesty commended ECB for successful conduct of numerous elections, educating the voters on elections and election procedures, and making every election better than the other.

His Majesty said the award recognises the hard work and dedication of everyone at the ECB.
