Bhutan was voted as a favourite travel destination after Japan by the readers of a UK-based travel magazine, Wanderlust. Bhutan scored 96.27 percent and won a silver award with only 0.6 percent behind Japan.

The Tourism Council of Bhutan received a certificate from the Wanderlust magazine awarding Bhutan a top country destination status.

The magazine conducts survey based on satisfaction levels of their past travel. Bhutan also made it to top 10 finalists in 2009 and was also awarded silver in 2005.
