Coinciding with the Coronation Day of His Majesty The King, a set of Neten Chudru Thangkas was consecrated at the Jakar Dzong in Bumthang yesterday. The project is a celebration of His Majesty the King’s glorious reign.

The Tshogki Lopen of the Central Monastic Body consecrated the set of Thangkas.

Jakar Rabdey Lam Neten, Tshewang Rinzin, initiated the project with financial contributions from the members of the Neten Chudru Tshogpa. Around Nu 3 M was spent for the thangkas offered to Jakar Rabdey.

“I am 65 now. I have lived here in in Rabdey my entire life and it has provided me my livelihood. So, as its Lam, I wanted to do something for the country, the Buddha Dharma and all other sentient beings,” Jakar Rabdey Lam Neten Tshewang Rinzin said.

As part of the ceremony, the civil servants and public of Bumthang offered Zhabten to His Majesty The King.

Meanwhile, the Jakar Choethuen Tshogpa offered Nu 300,000 to Jakar Dratshang.

The money will be spent in the successive unfurling ceremonies of the Thangkas, which will now be held annually on the Descending Day of the Lord Buddha.
