A cluster of 17 retreat houses at Ossay on the Gelegphu-Zhemgang highway is at a risk of being washed away by landslides.

The temporary structures are located just above the landslide prone Ossay road stretch.

Gomchens and others who live in the retreat houses say it wouldn’t be long before they would be forced to relocate.

“I don’t see any alternative other than to move out,” Karma said.

“I think the area will continue to experience landslides and it may not be long before it gives in to the pressure soon,” Gyem Tshering said.

Meanwhile, Jigmechholing Gup says the people living in the retreat houses have not sought help from the gewog.
