The Bhutanese cricket team concluded their ICC World Twenty20 Asia B Qualifier campaign with a win against Myanmar today.

In what was a disappointing tournament for the Bhutanese team, today’s win was just their second in six matches.

The Bhutanese players took to the field knowing a win against Myanmar will help them finish fifth in the tournament.

Bhutan batted first and was looking for their first 100 run total in the tournament.

In contrast to the previous matches, the Bhutanese players looked comfortable with their batting.

Opener Kumar Subba scored a sturdy 45 runs assisted by a quick-fire 20 runs from Jigme Singye. Bhutan managed to put on a total of 105 runs losing eight wickets in the process.

Myanmar was not much of a batting team themselves and their record with the bat in the tournament has been poor. The trend continued as Myanmar was bowled out in the 18th over with just 66 runs on the scoreboard.

Bhutan managed a 39-run victory in the final match of the tournament to seal the fifth position.

This tournament was a pathway to the 2020 ICC T20 World Cup in Australia. Only the top three teams will qualify to the next round of qualifiers.

The Bhutanese team will return home on Monday.
