The president of Druk Phuensum Tshogpa (DPT) Pema Gyamtsho said they are planning to do away with the Rural Enterprise Development Corporation Limited (REDCL) if his party comes to power.

In its place, he said, DPT will establish an Agricultural Bank to provide loans with lower interest rates.

The DPT president was speaking to the people of Sergithang_Tsirang _Toed constituency in Tsirang today.

“We will forfeit REDCL’s loans and maintain a new loan system. The Agricultural Bank will function like any other financial banks. The government will not interfere in its functioning.”

In the meeting, DPT President Pema Gyamtsho said Tsirang is one of the dzongkhags with a potential for mass farm production, which is the key to self-reliance.

DPT promises to achieve self-reliance by 2025.

Also, the DPT president pledged to promote tourism and open a college in Tsirang.
