The President of Druk Nyamrup Tshogpa (DNT), Lotay Tshering, kicked off his presidential campaign from Samdrup Jongkhar yesterday.

He said if DNT gets to form the next government, the party will make sure to give at least three to five ministerial posts to its candidates from the east.

But DNT won only one constituency in the east in the primaries. If the trend continues in the general round, the DNT President said, there wouldn’t be any ministers from the east. This, he said, worries him.

He told the people of Langchenphu and Phuntshothang gewogs that it’s important to have ministers from all the regions.

“I wouldn’t be happy if we end up with no ministers from the east, so that’s why I left the areas where I have full support and chose to campaign from the east,” he said.

He also pledged support in agricultural production to narrow the rich-poor gap.
