The lightning strike killed a 43-year-old lay monk in Lhuentse yesterday evening.

The deceased along with his friends went to collect Sang- cypress leaves when it began to rain. So he decided to take shelter under the cypress tree. However, he was struck by lightning and died on the spot. Police ruled out foul play in the death.
