His Majesty grants Khimsa Land Kidu to 333 people of Merag & Sagteng

His Majesty The King granted Khimsa Land Kidu to 333 people of Merag and Sagteng Gewogs in Merag, Trashigang yesterday.

The beneficiaries include landless, thram holders and different Khejos. Of the 333 people, 18 were landless while 219 were thram holder beneficiaries. A total of over 63 acres of land were granted as Land Kidu. The maximum Kidu recipients were from Merag Gewog.

Wearing smiles on their faces, people said, they are extremely thankful to His Majesty for granting them the Khimsa Land Kidu. “In 2015, His Majesty visited Merag and this time too, His Majesty visited here and granted land Kidu. We are very thankful to His Majesty,” said one of the locals in Merag, Tashi Wangdi.

Like Tashi Wangdi, other beneficiaries expressed their utmost gratitude to His Majesty The King for granting them the Land Kidu. “All the people here are extremely thankful to His Majesty for granting Lag Thram and Land Kidu. We pray for the long life and good health of our beloved King,” said another villager from Sagteng, Pem Tshering.

Following the Land Kidu, His Majesty granted tokha (lunch) to people. During a royal visit to Merag in 2015, His Majesty informed the people that he is aware of the trouble that has to do with Khimsa and Tsamdro. His Majesty also ensured that the issue would be resolved in time.

Enroute to Merag, His Majesty met with people of Dhosoom, Bartsham and Bidoong Gewogs, and Rangjoong.

During the royal visit in Trashi Yangtse, His Majesty The King visited the old Trashi Yangtse Dzong and Chorten Kora. His Majesty also met with the people of six gewogs in Tshenkharla and granted tokha.

His Majesty is on a royal tour in eastern districts. His Majesty is being accompanied by His Royal Highness Gyaltshab Jigme Dorji Wangchuck.
