More scholarships under TICA

A six member Thai delegation from Thailand International Cooperation Agency (TICA) is in the country to finalise the Thai-Bhutan Cooperation for the next three years. Once the co-operation is finalised, the Agency will provide 270 long and short-term scholarships for Bhutanese students to study in Thailand.

This scholarship has seen an increase of 90 scholarship slots as compared to the previous co-operation. Moreover, for the first time, 20% of the scholarship will be provided to the private sector.

The scholarships include both full and cost-sharing scholarships. The proposed areas of study include health, engineering, business, hospitality and tourism management, finance among others.

The co-operation will also oversee dispatching of volunteers under the Friends from Thailand programme and establishment of Thai Alumni Association in Bhutan. Other religious, capacity development and environmental conservation projects are also listed.

The establishment of formal diplomatic relations between the two governments date back to the late eighties.
