Tshering, 33, is the People’s Democratic Party’s candidate for North Thimphu Constituency. By-election will be held before November this year to fill the vacant post in the Parliament.

Tshering contested in the National Council election in 2013. He graduated from Chennai University in India and worked with Bhutan Broadcasting Service for three years.

People Democratic Party (PDP) has never won North Thimphu Constituency till now.

“Once you get elected to serve as a Member of Parliament but reign on the ground that you got an opportunity to study abroad, it will hamper democracy. Who is more important; people or yourself?  Resigning is an indication of putting yourself before the public,” said the Prime Minister, Tshering Tobgay.

North Thimphu Constituency was rendered vacant after Kinga Tshering from the Opposition resigned to study in Harvard University.

Druk Phuensum Tshogpa will reveal his opponent tomorrow.
