Special scholarship launched

To celebrate the royal wedding, a special scholarship programme was launched today. The scholarship which will be known as the Queen’s Endowment for Cultural Studies will be open for applicants from next year.
The scholarship is for undergraduate studies in Sanskrit, Pali, astrology, ayurvedic herbal medicine, fine arts and music.
Scholarship receivers will get to study in reputed institutes in India, Sri Lanka and within the country.
The Education Minister, Thakur S. Powdyel, who launched the scholarship, said “it is our hope that the benedictions inherent in the fields identified above will add to the benign graces of our country and serve to fulfill the hopes and dreams of our people. It is a small step to celebrate an occasion but a big wish to offer our most scared prayers for our beloved King and Queen.”
The scholarship will be open to students from regular schools, the Institute of Language and Cultural Studies, Dratshangs, Shedras, and Sanskrit institutes.
Candidates who are already pursuing the courses covered by the scholarship on self financing arrangements are also eligible to apply. A total of 15 slots will be available annually.
