His Majesty graces ground-breaking ceremonyHis Majesty The King graced the ground-breaking ceremony for Jigme Singye Wangchuck School of Law at Pangbisa, Paro, yesterday.

Members of the Royal Family, the Prime Minister, officials from the Royal Government of Bhutan, and foreign dignitaries and donors were also present.

The ceremony marks the start of the infrastructure development for the first law school in Bhutan. Construction of the law school is slated to begin in early June 2016 and is expected to be completed in three phases.

The construction project is financed through project tied assistance provided by the Government of India.

The JSW Law School was founded as an independent, autonomous tertiary educational institution by Royal Charter granted by His Majesty the King on February 21, 2015.

Her Royal Highness Princess Sonam Dechan Wangchuck is the President of the School.
