PetrolPricetoDropIn line with global trend, the price of petrol will decrease by Nu 2.6 a litre, while that of diesel will increase by 1.38 a litre in Thimphu starting today midnight.

Global crude oil prices have been on a downward trend when sanctions on Iran, a major oil producing country, were lifted early this year.

In Thimphu, price of petrol will cost Nu 54 a litre while diesel will cost Nu 46.9 a litre.

Bhutan’s fuel price follows closely with India and although prices have been decreasing globally, the decrease has been rarely passed on to the consumers.

This is because, in a bid to bridge the fiscal deficit gap, the government of India has retained the margin by revising excise duty on fuel.
