BFF will need Nu 28 M for second World Cup qualifiers- Bhutan Football Federation (BFF) is looking for funds for the World Cup qualifiers’ second round. The federation will need at least Nu 28 M for the eight matches, team Bhutan will play next.

Bhutan will be playing home and away matches against China, Qatar, Hong Kong and the Maldives.

The federation has to bear all the expenses for the visiting teams. The money will also be spent on the national team’s transportation and trainings abroad.

Bhutan Football Federation’s General Secretary, Ugyen Wangchhuk said they have not received fund from FIFA as yet.

“FIFA actually send us a letter in the beginning, even before we went for the qualifiers. They said any member association joining FIFA World Cup qualifiers will get USD 300,000.”

Ugyen Wangchhuk also said they are not sure whether they will receive the fund or not.

The FIFA Development Officer for South and Central Asia, Dr. Shaji Prabhakaran, said every participating country for the 2018 World Cup Russia, in the qualification round, will receive USD 300,000. “If they have applied then it should be in the process.”

Bhutan Football Federation has also asked the government for additional Nu 16 M.

When Bhutan played Sri Lanka in Colombo, it costs the federation for South and Central Asia about Nu 4 M.
