Bhutan to face China for World Cup Qualifiers

FIFA-2ndRound- Group CBhutan will now face China, Hong Kong, Qatar and the Maldives in the second round of the World Cup Qualifiers. The fixture was announced in Malaysia this afternoon.

There is a glimmer of hope for Bhutan, according to Bhutan Football Federation, even though China is positioned at 82nd in FIFA Ranking and Bhutan at 163rd.

Qatar is positioned at 99th, the Maldives at 141st and Hong Kong is placed four positions lower than Bhutan.

40 countries have been pooled in eight groups with five teams each.

The fixture, according to the Bhutan Football Federation is a relief for Bhutan, as they were dreading to take on Asian giants like Japan, Korea and Australia.

Bhutan will play Hong Kong in its away match on June 11.

The national squad, in the meantime, is undergoing intensive and rigorous trainings. Federation officials will also take the boys for acclimatization practice sessions to Thailand.

New players are also likely to join the national squad.
