Bhutan to play for world cup qualifying match

Bhutan to play for world cup qualifying matchFor the first time ever, Bhutan’s men football national team will be participating in the World Cup qualifying matches, which is scheduled next month.

The squad today is undergoing intensive training, which began on January 30 at the Changjiji football ground in Thimphu.

The players are being trained twice a day. Most of the players were selected from football clubs in the capital based on their technical, tactical, physical and mental skills, among others.

The Technical Director of Bhutan Football Federation, Chokey Nima said despite limited time for practice, the federation is trying to put the ability to their best.

Chokey Nima said there is limited time for practice as the federation received the letter only recently. “As soon as we received the letter, we got to work”

He added it was too early to comment about the performance during the qualifying match, as the teams have been practicing only for three days so far. “But we will try our best.”

The teams Bhutan would be playing against will only be known after the fixtures are drawn 10 March. The team will be playing away on March 12 and in the country on March 17.

Today, Bhutan is placed 209 in the World FIFA ranking.
