The District Court in Trashigang sentenced five men to prison terms ranging from three months to one year for smuggling animal parts and antiques. The verdict was passed today.

Five of them were initially charged for stealing the Nangtens of a Jangchub Chorten in Bikhar. The verdict says since the Office of the Attorney General could not provide concrete evidence, the court deferred the charges by giving them the benefit of doubt.

The smuggling case emerged during the court investigations. All five of them can pay fine in lieu of the imprisonment.
