Post scenario after vehicle ban lift

Jul 25, 2014

PostScenarioAfterVehicleBanLift. After two years of temporary ban, the government officially lifted the ban on the import of vehicles on July 19- but the lift comes with revised taxations.

The government reasoned that the vehicle tax is inclusive of Sales tax, Customs Duty and Green Tax, saying these had to be raised only for the benefit of the country.

The ban was a temporary measure to address rupee shortage in the country.

While few saw it as good initiative, there were others who were not happy with the change.

And now as the ban is lifted, there are fixed feelings as most are pinched with the revised taxes.

NA decided to monetize vehicle quota and now govt decides to give vehicle quota. Is it possible to change the decision of NA?

The purchase of vehicles could be easily controlled in the towns if we have efficient public transportation networks like in other countries. Public transportation mean trains, trams, buses etc. With these facilities the nation could easily save a couple billion each year.
