Tashi Group contributes five million to His Majesty’s Kidu Fund

Tashi Group- the biggest private business entity in the country celebrated its golden jubilee today. It was a small shop in the border town of Phuentsholing in 1959. Started with a meager capital of Nu. 2,500, Tashi Group is today the biggest business house in the country.

As part of its golden jubilee celebrations, Tashi Group today contributed Nu. five million to His Majesty’s Kidu Fund.

As the company celebrated its golden jubilee today, it boasts a turnover of Nu. four billion per annum. In the form of tax, the group today contributes Nu. 170 million to the government per annum.

Speaking at the event, the Vice Chairman of Tashi Group, Topgyal Dorji recounted the journey of the company. He also spoke about the new projects that are under various stages of progress.

With over 37 subsidiary companies, the Tashi group business empire includes trade, industry, telecom, banking, tourism, hotels, chemicals, petroleum, beverages and fruit processing.

From 500 employees 25 years ago, the company today has 3,000 employees. At the golden jubilee celebration today, two ex-employees were given special award for their outstanding service. Fifty current employees who have worked with the company for more than 26 years were awarded certificates and medals. For the rest, the company announced a bonus of one month basic salary.
