Bangladesh celebrated their 44th Independence and the National day, today. Here at the Bangladeshi Embassy in Thimphu, the celebration began with the hoisting of their National Flag.
The Bangladeshi Ambassador, Jishnu Roy Choudhury, read out the President’s message. The day also saw messages from the Bangladeshi Prime Minister, Foreign Minister and State Minister for Foreign Affairs. The Foreign Secretary, Yeshi Dorji, was also there at the event.
The day commemorates the country’s declaration of Independence from Pakistan on March 26, 1971.
As part of the celebrations, a cultural delegation from Bangladesh will be performing cultural programmes at the Department of Youth and Sports Auditorium, tomorrow.
