Tingtibi-Gongphu Highway widening delayedThe widening of 37-Kilometre Tingtibi-Gongphu Highway, which began in 2010, is likely to be delayed by another financial year. The Chief Engineer of the Project, Prabat Rai, said they haven’t received the fund to continue with the work.

About Nu.200 million was to be pumped into the project. The fund, the Chief Engineer, said is almost exhausted. It has been able to cover about 75 percent of the work.

The project is being funded by the Government of India.Tingtibi-Gongphu Highway widening delayed-

The highway was supposed to be completed within 10th Five Year Plan but was delayed. The holdup in the release of budget had delayed the project about six months. It was further delayed because of monsoon. Prabat Rai, said incessant rainfall had made it difficult for them to carry on with the work.

The highway once complete will benefit people traveling to Lower Kheng. It is to replace the feeder road which the motorists currently use.

Once the road is connected to Pangbang-Nganglam and Nganglam-Gyalpoizhing internal highway, people from eastern and central dzongkhags will also benefit.
