Czech Republic’s exhibition opens

HM-Queen Mother, Sangay Choden Wangchuck-Czech Castles,An exhibition depicting the culture of Czech Republic is on display in the capital. The opening ceremony was graced by Her Majesty the Queen Mother, Sangay Choden Wangchuck, this morning. The Prime Minister, cabinet ministers and senior officials along with the Czech Republic’s Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs were also present.

‘Czech Castles’ is an exhibition depicting the unique beauty of Czech Castles and the surrounding landscape. The initiative is to enhance bilateral relations with Bhutan which was formally established in 2011.

Czech Republic’s Ambassador to Bhutan said they will host a Bhutanese exhibition in Prague later this year.

The exhibition portrays a selection of 37 castles and historical landmarks that make up the Czech Republic. It is open to the public. As part of the festival, a film festival will start at the City Cinema from tomorrow.Czech Republic Exhibition--Czech Castles

Meanwhile, the Czech Republic is keenly looking for meaningful engagement with Bhutan including development aid. Of the many sectors identified including Civil Aviation, Disaster Management and the film industry, the Czech Republic is prioritising the sponsorship of Bhutanese students wanting to pursue Master’s and Doctorate studies in Czech Republic.

The ambassador of Czech Republic to Bhutan said negotiations are under process to sponsor Bhutanese students wanting to study in Czech Republic.

The delegation that is in the country till Saturday has also extended their support to help enhance airport security, and assist the disaster management team of Bhutan. Besides, they are also considering investment in the film industry, hydropower and the tourism sector.
