His Majesty grants Land Kidu in Monggar

HM-LandKidu-MonggarHis Majesty the King granted a total of about 103 acres of land as Kidu to 276 beneficiaries in Monggar Dzongkhag, today.

The beneficiaries included those who were absent during the cadastral resurvey and those whose plots were under dispute during the main survey period as well as those whose plots were under Monggar Thromde.

His Majesty granted land Kidu in Monggar in 2010 to those people who faced problems due to excess land and Khimsa (land under ancestral homes without Thram) as shown by the cadastral resurvey. Plots in Monggar Thromde and those that the cadastral resurvey could not cover were not included at that time.

A second round of the cadastral resurvey was carried out in the region in 2013, which covered all plots and could not be surveyed in the first time.

His Majesty said that land was scarce and precious in Bhutan, and it gives people a sense of ownership and belonging. His Majesty asked the Kidu beneficiaries to use the land they had been granted carefully, to benefit their children and uplift their lives.

His Majesty the King also spoke about the importance of developing an urban centre in the east, which would help develop the whole region and improve the lives of the people there.

His Majesty said an urban centre would provide people with better employment opportunities and improve the overall quality of life of the people living in and nearby such places.

His Majesty also commanded the people to approach the Throne for any Kidu without hesitation, especially during the Royal Visit to the East.

His Majesty also told the people that after the Royal Visit, His Royal Highness Prince Jigme Dorji Wangchuck, who has been appointed as His Majesty’s representative (Gyaltshab) in the east, would take care of the people’s Kidu.

His Majesty is accompanied by Her Majesty the Gyaltsuen and their Royal Highnesses Prince Jigme Dorji Wangchuck and Ashi Yeatso Lhamo.
