NA-Gross National Happiness DayThe National Assembly has decided to observe November 11 as the Gross National Happiness Day from now. March 20 will continue to be observed as the International Happiness Day.

During the National Assembly session today, the Home Minister Damchoe Dorji proposed to celebrate November 11 as the Gross National Happiness Day.

There were quite a few parliamentarians who supported the Home Minister’s proposal. They shared that since the country’s developmental philosophy of Gross National Happiness was propounded by the Fourth Druk Gyalpo, observing GNH Day on November 11 would be an appropriate tribute.

There were also Members of the Parliament, who said it would be wiser to observe GNH day on March 20 as it was declared the International Happiness Day by the United Nations, last year. They said besides November 11, this would be another momentous day for people to honour the Fourth Druk Gyalpo.
