Motithang takes top three positions in class XII exam

The top three toppers in the class XII examinations are all students of Motithang Higher Secondary School. The results were declared by the Bhutan Board of Examinations this morning.

7,510 students from 27 government schools and 13 private higher secondary schools sat for the examinations.

Tshering Dolkar topped the class 12 examination with 87.5 percent. Kesang Yuden came second with 87.25 percent. Kesang is also an Arts student of Motithang Higher Secondary School. In the third place is Tandin Dorji, a class XII science student of Motithang Higher Secondary School. He scored 86.5 percent.

Normally, the toppers are from science. This year, the top two places have been occupied by arts students.

Dr Phub Rinchen, the Secretary of Examinations, said “this year is a surprise.”

85.6 percent of the students passed the exam.

Subject wise, most students fared well in English, Dzongkha, Geography and Science with a pass percentage above 90 percent. The worst was Economics with a pass percentage of 30.21 percent.

The results are available on the education ministry’s website, www.education.gov.bt and also at www.druknet.bt. The results can be accessed after 9am tomorrow. Except for those from the Institute of language and Cultural Studies and the Dzongkha Language Institute, students can also access their results through SMS.

B-Mobile users should type R12, space, index number and send it to 3333.

Tashi Cell users can straight away type the index number and send to 4040.
