Nearly 400,000 voters for National Assembly’s elections

Registered-VotersNearly 400,000 (381,790) people have registered for the upcoming National Assembly elections. This is an increase by over 63,000 registered voters from the first National Assembly elections in 2008.

The final electoral roll was issued by the Election Commission of Bhutan (ECB) on Friday. More than 50 percent voters are female. The highest numbers of voters are from Trashigang and Samtse. Each Dzongkhag has over 41,000 voters.

Of the total registered voters, 79,698 have been registered as Postal Voters. A press release from the ECB states that each political party shall be provided a copy of the Voter’s List for their reference by May 14.
