The Bhutanese Judokas bagged two gold, two silvers, and four bronze medals in the Nepal Confederation of Sports International Judo tournament. The three-day tournament will end tomorrow.

This year’s medal tally is a marked improvement from the 2018’s edition of the tournament, where Bhutan managed only two bronze medals.

The Bhutanese team of Judokas who competed in the tournament consisted of two girls and 11 boys, aged between 11 and 18.

They competed in the under-15, under-18, and under-21 categories.

Yesterday, in the under-15 category, Bhutan won two medals. 12-year old, Tandin Dorji Wangmo, won silver in the female category. And 12-year old, Jigme Yangsel Dorji, won bronze in the male category.

Today, in the under-18 male category, Lhuendup Dorji and Jigme Yoesel Norbu won gold, Tenzin Dorji won silver, and Kinga Norbu and Yeshey Nidup won bronze.

In the under-18 female category, Minjur Peldon won bronze.

The 13 Judokas have been training for about two months for the tournament. These Judokas were selected from the 2022 Winter Judo Camp and Tournament.

The team is expected to be back in the country on Tuesday.
