Most of the gewogs in the country do not have an automobile workshop in their area. And the residents have to travel to the town or nearby workshops to repair or maintain their cars. But the situation is different in Chhuzom Gewog in Sarpang. People need not travel anywhere as there is an automobile workshop near the gewog office.

A private individual established the automobile workshop beginning this year. And since then it has benefitted the residents as they don’t have to travel to Gelephu.

Gelephu is located about 55 kilometres from the Chhuzom Gewog.

“The establishment of the workshop has benefitted us because we don’t have to go to Gelephu for maintenance. We can repair it here only,” said Dorji, a resident.

“The road between the Gewog and Gelephu is in bad condition. But we used to visit Gelephu for vehicle maintenance and to repair electrical appliances. However, now we don’t have to travel as an individual has established a workshop and it has benefitted us,” said Tula Ram Rai, another resident.

“People don’t have to struggle these days. People can repair it here in the workshop or else they can ask the mechanic to visit the site,” said Bishnu Prasad Rai, Chhuzom Gup.

Besides vehicle maintenance, the workshop also repairs electrical appliances.
