The Phuentshogling Police have detained two women and a girl on suspicion of engaging in prostitution. They were arrested last Wednesday. The three are suspected to have provided sexual services from a massage parlour in Phuentshogling town.
According to sources, the girl is 16 years old and is currently being kept at the child detention centre.
It has been learned that the police came to know of the illegal business from the girl whom they found in the town late at night. The girl had recently arrived from her village in Tsirang and had started working at the parlour just a few days ago. The parlour is run by one of the two women who are in custody.
Sources say the parlours charge around Nu 1,500 for an hour of massage. A customer has to pay extra for any sexual service.
A man has also been arrested for having sex with the minor at his home. The police say they are investigating the case.
