Monggar police forwards case of alleged rape of minor to OAG

Monggar police forwarded the case of alleged rape of a minor to the Office of the Attorney General yesterday. Police arrested a 25-year-old health staff on September 13 in connection to alleged rape of a 13-year-old minor.

The alleged incident occurred on September 8. According to sources, the man had an affair with the minor who is studying in one of the schools in Monggar. The girl’s parents reported the case to the police.

According to the Penal Code of Bhutan, the rape of a child above the age of 12 years is a felony of second degree with a prison term of nine to 15 years.
