SDP committee approves 214 new projects

The Small Development Project (SDP) committee approved 214 projects amounting to over Nu 3.8bn during the second SDP committee meeting yesterday.

The Government of India has committed Nu. 8.5bn for SDP in the12th Five-Year Plan.

The meeting reviewed and approved projects such as the construction of urban infrastructure, farm roads, irrigation channel, drinking water facilities and bridges among others.

According to the foreign ministry, the small development project has been successful since its implementation in the 10th five-year plan. The activities under this project are said to have supported the socio-economic development of the country and have made significant contributions to the people at the grassroots.

In total, 359 projects amounting to Nu 5.7bn have been approved under the two batches of SDP in the current plan.
