Punakha police have arrested a 20-year-old man from Monggar for alleged involvement in a series of burglaries. The incidents took place around a week ago in Khuruthang. Police were able to recover the stolen properties from the suspect.

According to police, the suspect had driven away a private coaster bus, which had been kept unlocked, from Khuruthang parking area to Toedpaisa on 5th October. The suspect then returned to Khuruthang in a taxi and burgled two houses.

In the next evening, the suspect allegedly broke the CCTV camera at a private residential area and stole a bicycle from another house. The Police report states the suspect also allegedly broke into some vehicles and stole items kept inside.

However, police were able to arrest the suspect that same night through the help of the public and were able to recover the stolen items from him.

According to police, the police-public partnership is playing a great role in tracking down suspects and reducing crime in Punakha.

Meanwhile, police are suspecting that the suspect might be involved in more burglary crimes and are investigating the case.
